Frequently Asked Questions

Is my spreadsheet uploaded to a server?

No. MediaPilot reads and converts the workbook entirely in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.

What carries over from Excel?

Cell values with their number formats (dates, currency, percentages), fonts, fill colours, borders, alignment, text wrapping, merged cells, column widths, row heights, hidden rows and columns, and the print area if one is set.

What does not carry over?

Charts, pictures, shapes, comments, conditional formatting and headers/footers are not included. Text is drawn in a font with the same letter widths as Calibri, Excel's default font, so cells set in other fonts look slightly different. Pages containing Hindi or other Indian scripts are saved as images so their letters join correctly.

How are wide sheets handled?

By default the sheet is shrunk to fit the page width only while the text stays readable. Sheets wider than that continue on extra pages — all rows of the first columns, then all rows of the next — with the header row repeated on every page. Choose "Fit all columns on one page" to force everything onto one page width instead.

Does it support .xls or .csv files?

No, only .xlsx (and .xlsm). Open an older .xls file in Excel and use "Save As → Excel Workbook (.xlsx)" first.
