Compress JPEG to 50KB

Get any photo under 50 KB, ready for online forms

How to compress a JPEG to 50KB

  1. Drop your photo onto the box above. JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF all work.
  2. The target is already set to Under 50 KB and the format to JPG, so compression starts straight away.
  3. Check the preview and the size shown under the settings, then download.

The result is always under 50 KB. The tool searches for the highest JPEG quality that fits. If a large photo cannot reach 50 KB without turning blocky, it is also scaled down in pixels; a 3549 × 4730 phone photo, for example, came out at 529 × 705 pixels and 49 KB, which is still sharp on screen and in print at passport-photo size.

Where a 50KB limit is common

  • Exam and recruitment applications that ask for a photo or signature under 50 KB.
  • Government and university portals with strict upload limits.
  • Email signatures and old systems that reject large attachments.

If a form also asks for exact pixel dimensions, crop or resize the photo to those dimensions first, then compress it here. If it asks for a different limit, such as 20 KB or 80 KB, change Target size or enter a custom size.

Private by design

ID photos and signatures are personal. This page compresses them on your own device, so the image is never sent to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Will the photo be exactly 50 KB?

It will be at or just under 50 KB, never over. The tool picks the highest quality that fits, so most results land between 45 and 50 KB.

Can I compress a PNG to 50KB as a JPEG?

Yes. The format is set to JPG on this page, so PNG, WebP and GIF images are saved as JPEG. Transparent areas become white.

What if I need 20KB or 100KB instead?

Change Target size to another option, or choose Custom size and type any number of KB.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. It is compressed in your browser and never leaves your device.
