About MediaPilot

Free file tools that run on your own device

In short: MediaPilot is a free collection of tools for images, videos, PDFs and everyday files. Every tool works inside your web browser, so your files are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to us.

Why MediaPilot exists

Most people only need to do something small with a file: shrink a photo for an exam form, turn a few pictures into a PDF, cut the start off a video, or fix a sideways scan. The usual options are either heavy desktop software or websites that ask you to upload your file to their servers, sometimes behind a sign-up, a watermark or a daily limit.

Uploading is the part we wanted to remove. ID cards, payslips, contracts, family videos and private photos should not have to travel to a stranger’s server just to be resized or converted. Modern browsers are powerful enough to do this work locally, so MediaPilot was built to do exactly that.

How the tools work

When you open a file in a MediaPilot tool, your browser reads it from your device and does the processing right there, the same way a desktop app would. The result is created on your device and saved straight to your downloads. Nothing is sent to a MediaPilot server, and closing the tab discards everything.

This has a few practical benefits:

The trade-off is that very large jobs depend on your device. A long 4K video will process faster on a laptop than on an older phone. Some tools download their processing engine the first time you use them; after that it is cached by your browser.

What you can do here

Each tool page explains how to use it, what its limits are and answers common questions.

How we keep it free

MediaPilot is free to use and shows ads through Google AdSense to cover running costs. We also use Google Analytics to see which tools people use, which helps us decide what to improve next. Neither of these ever has access to your files. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

How we look after the tools

Tools are tested with real files before they go live: phone photos, scanned documents, large videos and awkward edge cases like transparent PNGs or password-protected PDFs. When something does not work as well as we would like, we say so on the tool page instead of hiding it. New tools and fixes are added over time, and suggestions from visitors help decide what comes next.
